Overview

Jerry Phillips maintains a diverse and complex business and commercial litigation practice, focusing particularly on securities litigation, regulatory and compliance matters, as well as insurance-related issues, including subrogation matters. He brings a humanistic and pragmatic approach to problem-solving along with a big-picture view of each case, allowing him to help his clients craft and evaluate solutions that achieve their business objectives.

With extensive experience in state and federal courts and before regulatory agencies, Jerry has litigated, tried, arbitrated and successfully resolved disputes for public and private entities, businesses and individuals. His broad litigation background includes securities fraud claims, breach of fiduciary duty claims, securities customer complaints, shareholder and partnership disputes, business and personal torts, unfair competition matters, contract disputes, insurance and subrogation-related disputes, liability issues, tax disputes, trade libel and defamation claims, and a wide variety of class actions.

I truly look forward to getting to the office each morning, discussing complex legal issues with clients and colleagues, and crafting creative arguments to present both orally and in writing.

Another facet of Jerry’s practice focuses on insurance coverage analysis and disputes, insurance-related regulatory issues, subrogation rights and fraud and liability claims, particularly where insurance coverage is implicated. He works with clients to analyze existing insurance coverages, assess risk and determine additional insurance needs. Jerry represents clients before insurance-related regulatory agencies, and reviews and interprets policy language, including provisions relating to coverages, exclusions, subrogation obligations, duties of defense and indemnity, selection of defense counsel, and insurer reservations of rights.

Outside of his law practice, Jerry is an avid UCLA sports fan, and he works to help his high school alma mater, Los Angeles High School, improve its facilities and programs in sports and the arts. He also enjoys exploring LA’s restaurant scene with friends and family.
