John (“J.D.”) Taliaferro is a skilled trial lawyer with experience in complex civil litigation matters, criminal investigations and regulatory matters before federal agencies, including the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Transportation. J.D.’s practice also involves counseling clients with respect to deceptive advertising and other consumer issues. In 2012, he was seconded to a long-time client, where he provided counsel on regulatory affairs and internal compliance.
Over the past several years, J.D. has held significant roles in a number of civil litigations and investigations. These representations include a complex, multinational criminal and civil investigation of a major international corporation for alleged violations of U.S. trade regulations; a complex, multinational AAA arbitration between the largest U.S. and European missile defense contractors over a failed teaming relationship; and the representation of government entities in a variety of trial and appellate matters, including representation of government entities in unclaimed property recovery and the successful representation of the city of Los Angeles in a long-running dispute with airlines over rates and charges at Los Angeles World Airports.
