Loeb & Loeb Strengthens Litigation Practice with Addition of Former Federal Prosecutor Andrew R. DeVooght in Chicago

CHICAGO – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that former federal prosecutor Andrew R. DeVooght has joined the firm’s Chicago office as a partner in the Litigation Department. The addition of DeVooght follows the recent arrival of commercial litigator Laura McNally who joined in February as a partner in the firm’s Chicago office.

DeVooght represents clients at both the trial and appellate level in complex business litigation, IP litigation and white-collar criminal matters. He represents a broad range of companies and individuals, including professional services firms, pharmaceutical companies, energy-related companies and multinational information technology companies. Previously, he served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Illinois, where he investigated and prosecuted a wide variety of federal crimes, tried cases before judges and juries, and briefed and argued appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals.

“Andy’s years of experience in private practice together with his time in government bring invaluable insight to complement our existing practice strengths and enhance the level of service that we can provide to clients who are dealing with complex civil and criminal litigation matters,” said Daniel G. Murphy, Chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Litigation Department.

“We are very pleased to welcome Andy to the firm,” added Loeb & Loeb Chairman Michael D. Beck. “Along with the recent addition of Laura McNally, Andy brings considerable depth to our growing litigation platform in Chicago, particularly in the white collar arena, bolstering this practice into a significant presence in the Midwest, as well as across the country.”

A former law clerk to the Honorable William H. Rehnquist, Chief Justice of the United States, and the Honorable Michael S. Kanne of the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit, DeVooght also served as a Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Illinois College of Law, where he taught courses on the federal courts and constitutional law.

“Loeb is a fantastic firm with a strong bench of litigation talent in Chicago and nationwide,” said DeVooght. “There is great internal support, industry expertise and practice synergy in a number of areas that will be of significant benefit to my clients.”

DeVooght joins Loeb & Loeb from MoloLamken LLP.  He received his J.D., summa cum laude, from The University of Illinois, where he was a member of the Order of the Coif. DeVooght earned his B.A. from The University of Georgia where he graduated magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa.  He was an NCAA Academic All-American and the Southeastern Conference Scholar Athlete of the Year.
