Loeb & Loeb is proud to announce that Ivy Kagan Bierman, chair of the firm's Entertainment Labor practice, has been selected by Variety for inclusion in the publication’s “Power of Women in Hollywood” list for 2023. Formerly known as the “Los Angeles Women’s Impact Report,” this honor recognizes West Coast-based women who have left a substantial mark on Hollywood and the broader entertainment industry, both in the past year and beyond.
In an accompanying profile, Ivy is highlighted for working around the clock during the dual 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes and picketing. She played a crucial role in assisting talent, their representatives, and company clients in navigating the complexities of this challenging period in Hollywood. Drawing from her past experience guiding clients through the 2006-2007 strike, Ivy is dedicated to fostering improved management and union relations. In her union negotiations, Ivy sets ground rules which require both sides to treat each other civilly and with respect.
“My concern right now is that we’re looking at an industrywide problem,” Ivy told Variety. “It is so critical for labor relations for there to be trust. If you don’t have trust, not only is it hard to get these deals done, but after the deals are actually done, I foresee a lot of disputes over the interpretation of those deals, the implementation of those deals and the enforcement of those deals.”
