Michelle La Mar Recognized as a 2023 “Employment & Discrimination Law Trailblazer” by The National Law Journal

Loeb & Loeb is pleased to announce that Michelle La Mar, chair of the Employment & Labor department, has been recognized as a 2023 “Employment and Discrimination Law Trailblazers” by The National Law Journal. The annual honor recognizes legal professionals who are “agents of change” and have made “significant marks on the practice, policy and technological advancements” in their sector.

In an accompanying profile, Michelle discusses her representation of Indian technology conglomerates facing accusations of discrimination and scrutiny in their hiring of H-1B visa workers in the United States. Notably, Michelle and her team have secured victories for Indian conglomerates, including a unanimous jury verdict in a widely publicized class action trial for Tata Consultancy Services, proving that Tata did not discriminate on the basis of race or national origin.

Michelle further explains how these court decisions positively impact the technology sector as a whole, explaining that, “These court decisions will continue to allow Indian technology companies to maintain their growth and utilize H-1B visa workers in the United States. They also assist American companies utilizing such workers to legally fill gaps in their technology sector," said Michelle.
