Loeb & Loeb LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Matthew McKim as a partner in the Trusts and Estates department in the firm’s Chicago office. McKim advises clients on a wide range of U.S. tax planning matters, with a particular emphasis on income tax structuring for inbound U.S. investments. His clients include high net worth global families, international trust companies and non-U.S. citizens with U.S. contacts.
McKim’s practice truly spans the globe. He has counseled clients based in Latin America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, PRC, Hong Kong, and Southeast Asia.
“Matt is a strategic addition to our practice and further expands the breadth and depth of our offerings to high net worth individuals and families,” said Leah Bishop, co-chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Trusts and Estates department. “He offers a unique tax perspective that we know will be of great value to our international private clients.”
McKim brings more than 15 years of experience as a tax and trust lawyer and has extensive experience with a wide range of global family structures. He regularly assists clients (most often multinationals and their families) in navigating the U.S. tax system and with other considerations that arise when families move to or invest in the United States.
“I am thrilled to join one of the most distinguished private client practices in the country, and I look forward to leveraging Loeb & Loeb’s established international network to provide seamless service to my clients,” said McKim.
“Matt is known as a dedicated and diligent lawyer who is committed to the highest level of client service. It is an ethic we all share, and we are very excited to welcome him to our Chicago team,” said Doug Masters, managing partner of Loeb’s Chicago office.
Loeb & Loeb has continued to expand its leading Trusts and Estates department in recent months. McKim’s hire comes directly on the heels of the July 2020 addition of an international trusts and estates team, led by partners Erik Wallace and Laurence Ho, in Hong Kong.
Prior to joining Loeb & Loeb, McKim led the International Private Client Group at Benesch, Friedlander, Coplan & Aronoff, LLP. He earned an LL.M. from Georgetown University Law Center, a J.D. from Nova Southeastern University and a B.S. from Youngstown State University.
