The Daily Journal Honors David Grossman and Melanie Howard among Top IP Lawyers in California

Loeb & Loeb is proud to announce that partners David Grossman and Melanie Howard were featured in the Daily Journal’s list of California’s “Top Intellectual Property Lawyers” for 2018. Attorneys were selected for this annual list based on demonstration of leadership and impact in the area of IP law. Howard and Grossman were profiled in the Daily Journal’s April 18 issue.

Grossman’s profile spotlighted his role in helping “safeguard the ‘Star Trek’ universe,” representing Paramount Pictures and CBS Studios in a lawsuit to protect the copyrighted works from an independent filmmaker.  Grossman noted that this case proved difficult because he was “protecting elements of a fictional universe.”

The special report featured Howard’s work as lead intellectual property counsel for Beijing Shouhuan Cultural Tourism Investment Co. in the development of its multibillion-dollar theme park with Universal Studios. Howard negotiated the use of all licensed content in the resort, which is set to open in 2018 in Beijing, and will include a Universal CityWalk entertainment complex and a first-ever Universal-themed hotel.
