In 2015 the total number of deals has dropped, despite a surge in “megamergers” valued over $5 billion, which has called into question the mergers and acquisitions environment’s overall health this year. Loeb & Loeb partner Giovanni Caruso is quoted on the market factors that likely caused some acquirers to hit pause until everything stabilizes.
Caruso noted, “The number of deals seems to have dropped off the third quarter. I think at least part of that was the situation with the Chinese stock exchanges over the summer and the Chinese economy generally. In some ways, that may have slowed everything down.”
