Three Loeb Lawyers Honored for Pro Bono Service

Loeb & Loeb is pleased to announce that Litigation partner Paula Colbath, senior counsel Leily Lashkari and associate Chloe Gordils have been recognized for their outstanding commitment to pro bono advocacy and public service.

Paula and Leily were honored with The Legal Aid Society's “Pro Bono Publico Award” on Oct. 7, 2026, at the organization's annual awards ceremony in New York City. Each year, The Legal Aid Society recognizes the outstanding work of volunteer lawyers, law firms, corporations and other professionals who donate their time and talent to provide exceptional legal services to low-income New Yorkers.

Paula and Leily were recognized by The Legal Aid Society for their representation of a Brooklyn resident facing the loss of his longtime home after the death of a close companion for whom he had served as caregiver for more than a decade. After being gifted the property by his companion, who later died intestate, the resident faced challenges to his housing rights. Paula and Leily's multifaceted representation included successfully challenging the opposing counsel's involvement in related estate proceedings and protecting the client's interests through coordinated advocacy in Surrogate's Court and Housing Court.

Chloe was recognized by Lawyers for Children at its third annual Pro Bono Breakfast on Oct. 13, 2026, for her appellate advocacy in 2025, including successfully defending a lower court order designed to protect a vulnerable child.

Founded in 1876, The Legal Aid Society is one of the nation's leading legal services organizations, providing advocacy, representation and support to individuals and families across New York City. Through its civil, criminal defense and juvenile rights practices, the organization works to advance fairness, opportunity and equal access to justice.

Lawyers for Children is a nonprofit legal services organization dedicated to protecting the rights and well-being of children involved in foster care, custody, guardianship and other family court matters. Through direct representation and advocacy, the organization helps ensure that children's voices are heard in decisions that shape their lives and futures.
