McConaughey Not “Alright Alright Alright” with AI Fakes

Loeb & Loeb Litigation partner Frank D’Angelo is quoted in a Law360 article examining actor Matthew McConaughey’s use of trademark registrations as a tool to protect against unauthorized artificial intelligence (AI)-generated uses of his voice and likeness.

In the article, Frank explained that while such registrations offer a creative way to guard against unauthorized AI-generated content, they also highlight how uneven and limited existing protections remain for public figures like McConaughey and the public more broadly.

“I certainly understand why they're giving themselves that option and potentially expanding the areas of protection and the options that they have available in terms of potential legal claims,” Frank said. “But I think there are still some limitations to the approach, and I think it's indicative of the overall level of concern that talent has about these issues.”
