In Memoriam: Thomas N. Lawson (1952-2025)

Loeb & Loeb mourns the passing of our longtime friend and partner, Thomas N. Lawson.

Tom first joined Loeb & Loeb in 1987, where he built a distinguished tax practice and served as both the head of the Tax department and a key member of the firm’s senior leadership. He left the firm in 1996 to pursue other endeavors but returned in 2005, demonstrating a lasting commitment to the firm and its community.

Widely regarded as a brilliant and generous thought leader, Tom was a frequent author and lecturer on tax-related subjects. Over the years, he taught tax courses at UCLA Law School, USC Law School and Golden Gate University, and was a full-time faculty member of the Graduate Tax Program at NYU School of Law. Tom was also a Fellow of the American College of Tax Counsel, an organization composed of the nation’s leading tax attorneys recognized for their distinguished service to the profession. His contributions, both professional and personal, have left a lasting imprint on the legal and academic communities.

Tom’s legacy is one of excellence, integrity and enduring impact. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege to know and work with him.
