Rising Labor Tensions in Hollywood: Why Directors Predict Tough Negotiations With Studios

Loeb Entertainment senior counsel Dimitry Krol is quoted in an article published by The Los Angeles Times discussing challenges facing the Directors Guild of America as the union prepares for this year’s negotiations.  

According to the article, major media companies that own studios are also facing pressures stemming from fears of a recession, lackluster box office returns and uncertainty of the streaming business’ viability. “It’s going to be hard and they [media companies] want to manage expectations because there are economic headwinds right now about consolidation within our industry and that we are almost in a recession,” Dimitry told the publication.
