Loeb & Loeb partner Barry Slotnick sat down with Inside Counsel for an exclusive interview regarding a recent decision by the Copyright Royalty Board that will have a huge impact on digital music streaming services like iHeartRadio, Pandora and Spotify. The new ruling will lead to an increase in the amount that streaming services must pay for music this year and leave open the potential for rate changes over the next four years. Barry explained: “The Copyright Royalty Judges ruling indicates that the streaming services have developed sufficiently to justify a higher royalty rate for record companies and their artists.”
