Loeb & Loeb Adds Three Attorneys to Trusts and Estates Department in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Loeb & Loeb LLP has added three lawyers to its growing Washington, D.C. office. The team joins the firm’s nationally-recognized Trusts and Estates Department, which now includes nearly 40 attorneys. The group is led by partner Mary Ann Mancini and includes senior counsel, Tanya A. Harvey. Most recently, both attorneys practiced together at Bryan Cave LLP.

Loeb & Loeb’s Trusts and Estates Department represents a broad base of individuals, including those just beginning their financial planning and those requiring the most sophisticated estate, tax and business succession planning services, and trust and estate administration. The practice also counsels businesses, fiduciaries and tax-exempt organizations in a wide variety of matters, ranging from estate plans and the settlement of complex estate tax issues, to the resolution of multimillion-dollar disputes over the distribution of family wealth.

The following is brief biographical information about each of the firm’s new attorneys:

Mary Ann Mancini focuses on estate planning with an emphasis on planning for real estate ownership, closely-held businesses and life insurance. As a part of that practice, she counsels individuals and their families on entity planning, including structuring and formation of entities appropriate for their estate and business needs; and the protection and preservation of client assets. She is experienced in planning for the closely-held business owner and the business succession and estate planning issues faced by the entrepreneur and his or her family. She is also a nationally-recognized expert in techniques that utilize life insurance in estate and business plans, which include insurance trusts, split dollar and deferred compensation arrangements and life settlements. Mancini represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in trust and estate matters and she has substantial experience representing her clients in estate and gift tax matters before the IRS. She earned her LL.M. from Georgetown University, and her J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law. She graduated with a B.A. from Washington College.

Susan G. Blumenthal focuses her practice on estate planning, probate and trust administration, and fiduciary controversy and litigation. She counsels executors and beneficiaries through the tax and legal complexities of the estate administration process. She also has significant experience assisting clients in addressing controversies that arise in administering estates and trusts and in probating wills, whether resulting from family situations or the provisions of the documents. Blumenthal also volunteers for the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Program’s Probate Resource Center. She is a graduate of Case Western Reserve University, where she earned her J.D., and the University of Michigan, where she received her B.A.

Tanya A. Harvey concentrates her practice on estate planning and probate. She is especially adept with issues involving individuals with disabilities and special needs trusts, in light of her significant experience in special education law. She also has experience providing estate planning counsel to non-traditional families and the LGBT community, including guidance and assistance with living trusts, health care powers of attorney and asset distribution. In addition, Harvey has experience in negotiating and drafting prenuptial agreements, and she understands and is particularly sensitive to the specific estate planning issues when an individual is contemplating, or going through, a separation or divorce. Harvey received her J.D. from the State University of New York – Buffalo and her B.S. from the State University of New York – Albany.
