NEW YORK – Loeb & Loeb LLP has announced that Ieuan Jolly will join the firm’s Advanced Media and Technology Department as a Licensed Legal Consultant. Mr. Jolly is the third outside hire in the department since it was established in September of this year. He will also work with the firm’s Technology and Outsourcing and Emerging Media Practice Groups.
Mr. Jolly frequently advises clients on a wide variety of technology and media matters, with an emphasis on domestic and European regulatory issues such as e-commerce and data privacy, as well as outsourcing and international sporting matters.

Loeb & Loeb founded the Advanced Media and Technology Department in September of 2008 to expand upon the firm’s capabilities in representing clients in Internet and interactive media regulation, licensing and distribution agreements, mobile/cellular technology, online service joint ventures, cross-industry promotion and co-branding, music and visual content agreements, patent, copyright, trademark and intellectual property matters. The Department encompasses the Advertising and Promotions, Emerging Media, Privacy, and Technology and Outsourcing practices.

Ieuan Jolly advises technology clients across a number of industry sectors. He advises financial institutions on a wide range of complex technology transactions and sourcing arrangements, systems integration, high bandwidth and telecommunications procurement, disaster recovery, business continuity and data center transactions.
Mr. Jolly has extensive experience in the privacy arena and advises clients on pan-European and U.S. data privacy and security issues as well as information security risks and mitigation strategies in outsourcing jurisdictions such as India. He is a member of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Data Privacy Subgroup – a private sector adviser to United States Delegation. Mr. Jolly has provided training and advice on global privacy compliance to multi-national companies and he performs multi-jurisdictional audits. In the area of data security, Mr. Jolly regularly works with clients to ensure that they have implemented effective systems to manage risks and he advises on the development of robust controls to mitigate information security lapses, utilizing incident management and response procedures. In terms of privacy, he provides clients with bespoke “Compliance Kits” covering internal and customer-facing privacy and direct marketing policies, cross-border data privacy compliance protocols including inter-group and third-party transfer agreements, employee surveillance, website terms and conditions, and other information security protocols.
In the field of digital media and communications, Mr. Jolly advises clients on the global distribution, licensing and exploitation of content across interactive media platforms. His clients have included broadcasters, mobile operators and Internet service providers. He also advises intellectual property rights holders, including international sporting governing bodies on maximizing revenue streams from their media rights. In the e-commerce arena, he advises clients on the establishment of interactive electronic platforms and the licensing of information technology and broadband projects. He advises clients on all aspects of contracting online, supply and distribution agreements, website hosting arrangements and IT procurement. In relation to e-gaming, he is particularly well-placed to advise on the commercial and regulatory aspects in Europe of remote gaming across wireless, online and digital devices.
Mr. Jolly received an LL.B. from the University of Bristol School of Law (1997); and his Legal Practice Course from Nottingham Law School (1998).
