Wall Street Journal Pro Cybersecurity Webinar | Issues in Contact Tracing

Loeb & Loeb LLP is proud to announce that partner Jessica Lee will be speaking during the Wall Street Journal Pro Cybersecurity Webinar “Issues in Contact Tracing" on July 15, 2020.

About the event:
In order to slow the spread of Covid-19 after lockdowns come to an end, European, Asian, and U.S. state governments and corporations are turning to contact tracing applications that record interactions with other apps users. If a user becomes ill, the app can alert all those that the user came into contact with and recommend self-isolation. The various apps have multiple approaches to collect and store data, but privacy concerns may be preventing users from downloading them, which in turn makes them less effective. Some apps have already been suspended due to privacy concerns. In this webinar, our panel will discuss the security and privacy concerns of contact tracing apps and the technology they rely on as well as the differences in the U.S. and European approaches. We will hear about uneasiness among regulators and attempts to address fears that this could give governments and technology companies too much access to personal data.
