Governor Gray Davis on Lessons from the 2022 Midterm Elections

Former California Governor and Loeb Of Counsel Gray Davis spoke to Bloomberg in a broadcast interview about lessons learned from the 2022 midterm elections, the mayoral race in Los Angeles and the impact of issues like homelessness, crime and inflation on the Democratic Party.

When discussing the Democratic Party’s performance in the 2022 midterm elections, Governor Davis noted that, “Women voted in huge numbers and young people came out in big numbers because they didn’t like that decision [Dobbs] and wanted their voices heard.”

In addition, Governor Davis attributed Karen Bass’ win in the Los Angeles mayoral election to her very long relationship with the community. “Everywhere she’s been on, she’s been perceived as distinguished and effective,” Governor Davis said.

In regard to the Democratic party’s messaging of issues like crime, Governor Davis commented that, “The first thing we have to say if the police acts properly, is that we have your back.”
