Your Copyrights Are NOT Gone Forever (Yes, You Read That Right)!

The Copyright Revision Act of 1976 includes a provision granting songwriters and other creators the right to recapture the copyrights to their songs.

Although the specifics are complicated, generally speaking, songs you wrote after 1977 are eligible to be recaptured after 35 years; songs you wrote before 1978 are eligible to be recaptured after 56 years.
