“The legal work we do in our theater group at Loeb is at the epicenter of live theater in the United States and reaches across our borders,” adds Carol Kaplan, co-chair of the firm’s Theater and Live Entertainment practice. “Liza brings a deep understanding of the creative, business and legal issues that shape productions from development through opening night and beyond, expanding our strengths and the resources we can bring to serve our clients in this space. We’re delighted to welcome Liza!”

With experience representing producers, investors, writers, directors, actors and other creatives, Montesano counsels clients throughout every stage of a production’s life cycle, advising on matters including rights acquisition, development, production and other exploitation of live stage works. She also brings extensive experience negotiating literary publishing deals and representing talent across television, film, podcast, endorsement and brand partnership arrangements. In addition, she counsels clients on intellectual property matters, guild and union issues, and contractual enforcement matters.

“I am thrilled to join Loeb’s renowned entertainment team and become part of a firm with such a strong legacy in theater and live entertainment,” said Montesano. “The firm’s leading reputation in the entertainment industry creates tremendous opportunities to support clients across theater, publishing, film, television and emerging media. I look forward to working alongside my new, talented colleagues to support our clients in bringing innovative and ambitious creative projects to life.”
