Ryan McCaffrey has more than 20 years of experience advising developers, lenders, investors and other clients across the real estate industry on complex transactions spanning the full life cycle of real estate assets. Drawing on a unique combination of private practice and in-house leadership experience, he provides practical, business-focused counsel on matters involving real estate finance, acquisitions, development, operations, restructurings and strategic growth initiatives.
Ryan’s experience spans a broad range of capital structures, including mortgage and mezzanine financing, preferred and common equity investments, ground leases, tax credit transactions and syndications. In addition to transaction-level work, he advises real estate developers, operators and private equity sponsors on joint ventures, corporate-level transactions, platform expansion strategies and other initiatives designed to support business growth.
Previously, Ryan spent more than a decade serving as chief legal officer of Post Brothers, a leading real estate development company, where he helped oversee the development, conversion and renovation of approximately 8,300 Class A+ multifamily units representing roughly $4.3 billion in project costs. In that role, he provided strategic legal counsel across the full spectrum of the company’s real estate investments, advising on matters from capitalization and acquisition through construction, management, leasing, recapitalization and disposition. He also served as general counsel to affiliated construction, manufacturing and property management businesses, providing strategic legal and operational guidance across multiple platforms.
Beyond his legal practice, Ryan has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Pennsylvania for more than a decade, where he developed and taught courses focused on the practical aspects of transactional law and preparing future lawyers for careers in transactional practice.

- Discounted loan purchase, ground lease and recapitalization of mixed-used development.
- Recapitalization of a portfolio of 168 limited-service hotels across 33 states with debt of $1.6 billion.
- Various NAV financing transactions, including corporate-level bond issuances for real estate developer.
- Forward sale acquisition of multifamily property in northern New Jersey exceeding $200 million.
