Connecticut Licensing Applications Are Now Available Online

The Department of Banking for the State of Connecticut has posted on its website the application forms for the state's new Debt Negotiation licensing law that is required for all debt settlement companies operating in the state and/or serving its residents. Among other things, the State requires that each branch office be separately licensed.

The forms can be found at: http://www.ct.gov/dob/cwp/view.asp?a=2232&q=446840&dobPNavCtr=|#50731

The new law can be found at http://www.cga.ct.gov/2009/ACT/Pa/pdf/2009PA-00208-R00SB-00950-PA.pdf and http://www.cga.ct.gov/2009/ACT/Pa/pdf/2009PA-00208-R00SB-00950-PA.pdf.

We spoke with one of the Connecticut regulators about whether the State will issue a schedule of fees, as is discussed in the new law. The regulator said that there have been discussions about issuing a fee schedule, but that to their knowledge no fee schedule has been issued yet.
