IATSE Wants New Big Break in Hollywood With VFX Workers

Ivy Kagan Bierman, chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Entertainment Labor practice, is quoted in an article published by Law360 discussing the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees’ (IATSE) effort to unionize workers in the visual effects industry following a previously failed attempt.

According to the publication, IATSE released a report highlighting that VFX employees found their work to be unsustainable in the long term due to their concerns surrounding wages, benefits and other measures. "I don't necessarily think that you need to have a union agreement to have a work environment that is safe, both in terms of mental and physical well-being," Ivy said. Adding that, “But the company needs to be focused on those issues, regardless of whether there's a union or employees advocating for that."
