Loeb & Loeb Boosts Real Estate Litigation Practice With Addition of NY Partners Gil Feder and Evan Farber

NEW YORK (May 8, 2017) – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Gil Feder and Evan K. Farber have joined the firm’s New York office as partners in the Litigation Department. Feder and Farber join the firm from Reed Smith LLP, where Feder chaired the U.S. Real Estate Litigation Group. The pair brings significant experience litigating a wide range of business matters, with a particular focus on complex commercial, partnership and joint venture disputes involving real property.

“Gil is a veteran commercial litigator with more than 40 trials under his belt, representing some of the most prominent New York property owners and developers in matters at both the state and federal levels,” said Daniel G. Murphy, chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Litigation Department. “Real estate is an area of strategic focus for our nationwide litigation team and both Gil and Evan are fantastic additions whose experience rounds out our offering in this important sector.”

“Gil and Evan are extremely well regarded,” added Loeb & Loeb Chairman Michael D. Beck. “They perfectly complement our robust litigation and transactional real estate platform in New York and nationwide, and they are versatile attorneys who will be an asset to our clients and colleagues in a number of areas throughout the firm.”

Feder has litigated highly-publicized real property, mortgage, environmental, zoning, condemnation, commercial lease and hospitality disputes. He also represents clients in employment disputes and restrictive covenant litigations. In addition to his extensive trial and appellate experience, Feder has handled arbitrations and mediations before the American Arbitration Association and JAMS. His clients include some of New York’s largest hospital groups, leading financial institutions, REITs, celebrities and high-net-worth individuals and families with large real estate holdings.

Farber’s diverse commercial and corporate litigation practice encompasses a broad range of complex contract disputes, real estate, financial industry and insurance recovery matters. He also has a depth of experience in electronic discovery issues and has lectured and advised clients on related topics.

“Loeb & Loeb is a distinguished firm with an excellent bench of talent and resources,” said Feder. “Evan and I are excited to join this great group of colleagues and introduce our clients to Loeb’s terrific offering.”

Feder received his J.D. from New York University School of Law and a B.A. from Binghamton University. Farber received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law, where he was executive managing director of the Columbia Law Review, and he subsequently clerked for Judge Alvin Hellerstein in the Southern District of New York and Judge Robert Smith of the New York Court of Appeals. He earned his B.A., with distinction, from Yale University.
