Loeb & Loeb Continues Growth in Washington, D.C. with Addition of Corporate Partner Neil Lefkowitz

WASHINGTON D.C. (February 1, 2016) – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Neil Lefkowitz has joined the firm’s growing Washington, D.C. office as a partner in the Capital Markets and Corporate Department. Lefkowitz focuses his practice on mergers and acquisitions, equity financings and joint ventures, with particular emphasis on transactions involving education institutions and providers of educational products and services.

“D.C. is an important market for many of the firm’s clients and we are committed to expanding our presence there with first-rate, strategic hires like Neil,” said Loeb & Loeb Chairman Michael D. Beck. “Not only does he bring broad transactional know-how that will deepen our corporate bench, but his special expertise in the education sector is a tremendous complement to our firm’s preeminent tax-exempt practice, which is one of a kind in DC and nationwide, and services an array of not-for-profits in the education arena.”

“Neil is a talented attorney with a unique skill set that is perfectly aligned with our firm’s strengths and key areas of client focus,” added Mitchell S. Nussbaum co-chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Capital Markets and Corporate Department. “We look forward to working with him and welcome him to the firm.”

Lefkowitz has significant experience and interest in higher education, K12 education and educational products and services, and he has completed more than 50 mergers and acquisitions and other corporate transactions in these sectors. He is regarded as an authority in transactions involving higher education institutions.

In addition to mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures, Lefkowitz has significant experience counseling emerging and high-growth companies in equity financings of all types. He has also represented strategic investors in acquiring the preferred stock of technology and education companies, as well as in exits of their investments.

“Loeb provides me with a multi-faceted  platform to continue to build my practice, offering corporate not-for-profit, income tax (both taxable and tax-exempt), licensing and out-sourcing experience and expertise that will be of significant benefit to my clients,” said Lefkowitz. “I’m excited to join this team and contribute to Loeb’s continued expansion in D.C.”

Lefkowitz is the second major addition to Loeb & Loeb’s Capital Markets and Corporate Department in recent months. Private equity and M&A partner Rima Moawad joined the firm’s New York office in November.

Prior to joining Loeb & Loeb, Lefkowitz was a partner at Dickstein Shapiro LLP.

A graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law (J.D., with honors, Order of the Coif, 1979) and Oberlin College (B.A. 1975), Lefkowitz is admitted to the bars of D.C. and New York.
