The New Year Brings New Challenges and New Opportunities for IP Protection: A Discussion of Recent Amendments to the Copyright and Trademark Statutes

Loeb & Loeb LLP is proud to present a webinar titled “The New Year Brings New Challenges and New Opportunities for IP Protection: A Discussion of Recent Amendments to the Copyright and Trademark Statutes”. This webinar was presented live on January 27, 2021, and can be viewed on-demand below.

About the event:
Please join us for a live CLE webinar that will discuss significant amendments to the Copyright and Lanham acts that were passed into law as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021.

Media, entertainment and technology companies that own or exploit copyrighted works need to become familiar with the CASE Act, which establishes a new copyright small-claims court within the U.S. Copyright Office. While the law is designed to encourage efficient resolution of low-value copyright claims, it contains a number of provisions that may affect high-value works and could be a trap for the unwary.

Brand owners need to become familiar with the Trademark Modernization Act, which makes it easier to enjoin acts of trademark infringement but also establishes procedures to oppose registration applications and to cancel marks that have already been registered. These topics and more will be covered on this timely and informative webinar.
