NY Lawmakers Cozying Up to Cash, Anti-Graft Panel Says

Loeb & Loeb LLP is noted and Jay K. Musoff named in connection with his role as counsel for the Senate’s Independent Democrats in an article discussing a recent report by Governor Andrew Cuomo’s investigators studying public corruption in New York. The report was published by the Moreland Commission as its "robust and ongoing investigation" goes on — and as key lawmakers in Albany continued to resist subpoenas issued by the prosecutor-heavy panel. As party campaign committees came to accords over the commission's subpoenas, law firms and the Legislature itself kept up their resistance against complying with information demands they say go beyond what the current law and the constitution allow for. Lawmakers stated that there are no allegations of wrongful conduct behind any of the subpoenas. Rather, the petition seeks to protect the Legislature by preserving its vital role as a co-equal branch of the New York state government. The petition seeks to intervene in cases where law firms employing lawyer-legislator work are also resisting the subpoenas.
