Loeb Partner Jason Lilien Joins New York City High School as “Principal For A Day” for 30th Anniversary of PENCIL and Principal For A Day

Jason Lilien, co-chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Nonprofits & Tax-Exempt Organizations practice, once again took part in the “Principal For A Day” initiative coordinated by PENCIL, a New York City-based nonprofit bridging public education and business leadership for the past thirty years. On May 15, Jason acted as principal at the Brooklyn Preparatory High School in Brooklyn, New York.

Jason’s day included accompanying the school’s principal, Principal Noah Lansner, on classroom visits to engage directly with students, fostering dialogue around their studies, interests and career aspirations. Jason also gave an overview of his career journey with the students and participated in a question and answer session about the legal profession.

“Spending the day at Brooklyn Prep was incredibly rewarding,” Jason shared. “The students were thoughtful, curious and inspiring, and it was a privilege to talk with them about their goals and share insights about the legal field. Programs like this remind us how meaningful it is to invest time in the next generation.”

In 1995, PENCIL was founded with the goal of raising awareness about public education by inviting civic and business leaders into New York City public schools. PENCIL makes it easy for business professionals, educators and students to work together—in schools and the workplace. The nonprofit’s programs, including in-school partnerships, mentoring, internships and immersive experiences like Principal For A Day, create targeted opportunities to make a real difference in the classroom and beyond. PENCIL strives to provide students with access to the relationships, skills and opportunities that support their success.
