Partner Ivy Kagan Bierman Honored in Variety’s 2021 Los Angeles Women’s Impact Report

Loeb & Loeb is pleased to announce that Ivy Kagan Bierman, chair of the firm's Entertainment Labor practice, has been selected by Variety for inclusion in the publication’s annual “Los Angeles Women’s Impact Report” for 2021, which honors women who have had a significant impact in the entertainment industry the past year.

In the accompanying profile, Bierman is recognized for working with entertainment companies to implement COVID-19 protocols and mandatory vaccine policies, as well as create safety guidelines for women on set. In particular, she is highlighted for working with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences on building harassment, discrimination and respectful workplace training programs for its employees.

Bierman is also noted for serving as an advocate for entertainment workers during the pandemic, having encouraged her entertainment clients to compensate their workers more generously than guilds specified. As COVID-19 continues to linger, Bierman noted the challenges ahead for the entertainment industry, including the difficulty theaters face in retaining attendees.

“I’m concerned about movie theaters becoming a piece of history, just as Blockbuster and other video chains became part of history,” Bierman told Variety. “It feels like everything’s moving online, and we’re moving away from these in-person experiences that we can do together as a community.”
