Loeb & Loeb mourns the passing of our close friend and partner Tom Havens.
Tom joined the firm in 2017 after more than 30 years of successful practice as a transactional energy lawyer. He was passionate about advancing the renewable energy sector and advised developers, investors, utilities and lenders in projects involving wind, solar and other clean energy solutions. Tom believed strongly in the benefits of renewable energy resources and he applied his deep knowledge and experience within the communities where he lived and worked. He provided pro bono service to nonprofits helping to bring solar power to low-income neighborhoods in New York, and he was a leader within the environmental action group in his hometown of Port Washington.
In addition to his remarkable legal talents, Tom is remembered for his incredible warmth and kindness, his contagious positivity and his genuine eagerness to collaborate and share. He gifted those around him with his enthusiasm and generosity, both professionally and personally.
Tom’s greatest love was for his wonderful wife and two sons, of whom he was extremely proud and deeply devoted.
Tom left us far too soon on August 27, 2018. Our hearts go out to all who knew him.
