Loeb & Loeb Supports California Bar Foundation’s 2017 Diversity Scholarship Program

Loeb & Loeb LLP partnered with the California Bar Foundation on the organization’s 2017 Diversity Scholarship Program, which provides financial assistance to rising first-year law students from communities underrepresented in the California Bar, with the goal of furthering diversity in the legal profession. For the fourth year running, the firm was pleased to underwrite a Diversity Scholarship in the name of Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. The 2017 scholarship was awarded to UC Irvine School of Law student Grecia Rivas at the California Bar Foundation’s Diversity Awards reception held on October 5 in San Francisco.

Ms. Rivas graduated from Princeton University where she studied Comparative Literature and holds a graduate degree in Urban Education from Loyola Marymount University. Growing up in East Los Angeles, Ms. Rivas saw education as an opportunity to make a better life for herself and her family. She has spent the last four years as a grade school teacher in Southeast Los Angeles helping her students navigate the same educational system she did so many years before them. Her time in academia as both an educator and student have inspired Ms. Rivas to commit to a legal career.

Ms. Rivas is one of the 1L student scholars selected by the California Bar Foundation in 2017. The scholarship recipients were selected based on academic achievements, financial need, and public service or leadership.

The California Bar Foundation is the largest independent resource for diversity scholarships statewide and a lead investor in increasing diversity, equity and inclusion in the California Justice program. Learn more about the Diversity Scholarship Program here.
