Why Trademark Owners Need to Be Concerned About Privacy Law

The webinar slides and handout are available for download below.

Privacy affects virtually every type of company and organization these days, not just advertisers and e-tailers. Trademark owners may suffer significant brand damage due to a privacy violation, data security breach, or controversy. Brands may also be participating in ICANN’s roll-out of new generic top level domains (gTLDs) which can lead to new privacy concerns: brands that obtain a new gTLD must also assume the role of registry operator, which may require compliance with US and global privacy laws not usually encountered by major brands.

Join Loeb & Loeb LLP Advanced Media and Technology Department attorney Nerissa Coyle McGinn, senior counsel, for an update on important privacy laws, enforcement actions and other legal developments from the perspective of trademark owners, in addition to some of the privacy issues a registry operator may face.
