HLC Approves Purdue's Acquisition of Kaplan University

It was publicly announced on March 5 that the Board of Trustees of the Higher Learning Commission ("HLC") approved the acquisition of Kaplan University by an affiliate of Purdue University at its February 22, 2018 meeting. As HLC's consent is the final required regulatory approval, it is anticipated that the transaction will close within the next forty five days. 

This article explores the terms of the deal, the regulatory approvals that were needed to complete the deal and governance of the transferred university, which will be referred to as Purdue University Global.
