Cher Petitions Court for Oversight of Son's Finances

Gabrielle Vidal, chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Guardianships practice and co-chair of the Trust & Estate Litigation practice, was quoted in an article published by The Hollywood Reporter discussing a petition filed by music legend Cher, who seeks to become the conservator of her son's estate, citing his inability to effectively handle his financial affairs.

In the filed petition, Gabrielle, who is representing Cher in the case, stated that “Elijah [Cher’s son] is entitled to regular distributions from a trust established by his father for his benefit, but given his ongoing mental health and substance abuse issues, Petitioner [Cher] is concerned that any funds distributed to Elijah will immediately be spent on drugs, leaving Elijah with no assets to provide for himself, and putting Elijah’s life at risk.”
