Loeb & Loeb Expands Land Use Practice with Addition of Partner Paul Rohrer in Los Angeles

LOS ANGELES – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Paul Rohrer has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner in the Land Use Practice. Rohrer was most recently a partner in the Los Angeles office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP.

“Paul has a strong track record and he will help provide leadership and experience as we work to further develop our client services in this area,” said Mickey Mayerson, managing partner of Loeb & Loeb’s Los Angeles office. “Prior to attending law school, he worked for 15 years in nearly every facet of the real estate industry. It’s that combination of sophisticated business experience and targeted industry expertise that provides texture to his law practice, and will ultimately help shape the quality and level of service we can offer to clients.”

Rohrer represents governmental entities, nonprofit educational institutions and developers in land use and entitlement matters in connection with the acquisition, sale, optioning, and ground leasing of real property and in the structuring and negotiation of various agreements, including joint development agreements, owner participation agreements, and construction-related agreements. He has worked extensively with public/private transactions, air-rights transfers, and the creation of special use districts for signage. Rohrer has appeared in front of city councils, planning and architectural commissions, and community redevelopment agency boards in support of his clients’ projects. He often works with government officials, private parties, and nonprofit organizations to create economically and socially viable development solutions.

In addition, Rohrer actively participates in the consideration, drafting and passage of state and local laws, special use districts and specific plans to facilitate smart growth, transit-related development and affordable housing. He is also engaged in activities that increase transit funding through public/private market-based solutions.

Loeb & Loeb Chairman Michael D. Beck added, “We are extremely pleased to welcome Paul to the firm. His extensive experience in connection with high-profile projects in and around Los Angeles will be a great benefit to our real estate and land use clients navigating regulatory issues.”

Rohrer is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He earned his B.A. from the University of California, Los Angeles, where he graduated summa cum laude and with College and University Honors. He received his J.D. from Yale Law School, where he was a Coker Fellow, Tercentennial DeVane Fellow and Book Review Editor of the Yale Journal of International Law.

“Loeb & Loeb’s real estate department is top notch,” said Rohrer. “I look forward to working with such a sophisticated team and bringing my knowledge of the development and regulatory process in California to bear on client matters firm wide.”

Rohrer is the fourth lateral partner to join Loeb & Loeb’s Los Angeles office this year, following the addition of Barry Mallen, who joined the firm’s IP & Entertainment Litigation Practice last month.
