Loeb & Loeb Announces Firm Leadership Succession Plan

Loeb & Loeb is pleased to announce that Mitchell Nussbaum and Arash Khalili are slated to assume the positions of Co-Chairs of the firm as of February 5, 2024.

Nussbaum and Khalili both currently serve as Co-Chairs of Loeb & Loeb’s Capital Markets and Corporate Department, one of the largest groups at the firm. Both also serve on the firm’s senior leadership committees. As Co-Chairs, the two will work collaboratively to steer Loeb & Loeb towards continued success and drive innovation and growth within the firm.

Khalili and Nussbaum will succeed Chairman Kenneth Florin, who recently informed the partnership that he would not be seeking a third term as Chair. Florin, who for two decades before serving as Chair held a number of senior firm management roles, will transition in February to Chair Emeritus. Under Florin’s chairmanship, the firm grew in size and revenue, entered into new markets, made significant commitments to DEI and greatly expanded the firm’s community and pro bono efforts.

“I am humbled by the trust and confidence that the firm has placed in us, and we are committed to its continued success and excellence,” said Arash Khalili. “Ken Florin did a great job of growing our firm financially, geographically, and culturally. We look forward to building upon that strong foundation.”

“Loeb is an exceptional firm with best in class practices and culture, top legal talent and an entrepreneurial energy that is second to none. Our platform offers tremendous opportunity, and we’re excited about all we’ll accomplish together in the future,” said Mitch Nussbaum.

Both Nussbaum and Khalili are highly-regarded for their strategic focus. The co-chair role will allow both attorneys to continue to remain active in their vibrant practices.

Nussbaum is a 22-year veteran of the firm and currently Vice Chairman of Loeb. Prior to that, he founded Loeb’s two international offices and was the Managing Partner of the firm’s New York office. He represents emerging growth companies and investment banks around the world in IPOs of operating companies and SPACs, follow-on public offerings, shelf takedowns, registered direct placements, PIPEs and other private placements. Under his leadership, Loeb’s Capital Markets practice has become one of the leading groups of its kind. Last year, his team was the most active legal adviser for SPAC IPOs and SPAC mergers in the country. Khalili has been at Loeb for nearly 20 years, and is an exceptional deal maker and navigator of complex M&A, corporate and commercial transactions across a wide range of industries, including media, entertainment, technology and sports. Khalili co-founded the firm’s esteemed sports group; a vibrant, nationally acclaimed practice handling some of the largest, most complex deals in the country.

Florin will return his focus to a very strong and active legal practice, as part of the firm’s leading Advanced Media & Technology Department, a group he co-founded and has grown to be the preeminent practice of its kind with over 70 talented professionals.

Khalili and Nussbaum will be in Co-Chair-Elect roles from mid-November until February, when they will then take over as Co-Chairs. During these upcoming months, they will work closely with Florin, the Board, and senior members of firm administration to ensure a smooth and seamless transition.
