Loeb Represents Art & Science Partners in PayPal’s Partnerships with Big Ten and Big 12 College Sports Conferences

Loeb & Loeb represented Art & Science Partners, PayPal’s marketing agency, in connection with PayPal’s multi-year sponsorship and branded integration agreements with the Big Ten and Big 12 college sports conferences. Announced on the heels of the House settlement—which permits colleges and universities to share revenue directly with student-athletes—the sponsorships support a new revenue-sharing model by modernizing how institutional payments are delivered.

As student-athlete compensation becomes a growing focus in collegiate sports, PayPal (and its Venmo brand) will provide fast, simple and secure digital payment solutions to streamline payments across participating schools. In addition to providing a number of PayPal/Venmo branded integrations and activations, these partnerships mark a significant step forward in the evolution of financial infrastructure supporting name, image and likeness (NIL) activity in college athletics.

Under the terms of the five-year deals, payments will begin on July 1, 2025, with funds being distributed directly to student PayPal accounts.

The Loeb team included Brian Socolow, co-chair of the firm’s Sports industry group, and Advanced Media & Technology partner Seth Rose.
