Have you heard how Loeb is moving the needle? Loeb’s lawyers are always advising on the latest trends, issues, and legislation to help our clients and communities succeed. Here are some highlights and firm news from the past month!

  • We are excited to announce the arrival of Capital Markets and Corporate partners Thomas L’Helias and Michael Ginzburg in the New York Office. Thomas joins with more than 25 years of experience handling transactions for Fortune 500 companies and large multinational corporations, funds, financial institutions and foreign private issuers. He also regularly advises boards and management teams on day-to-day matters, internal investigations and complex litigation. Michael brings over a decade of experience in corporate deal making, including domestic and international mergers and acquisitions, minority investments and securities transactions. • In our June Employment & Labor Client Alert, we discuss how Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become increasingly common in the workplace, since AI tools enable employers to quickly and effectively evaluate existing and prospective employees. Just last year, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) estimated that over 80% of employers use AI to assist in employment-related decision-making. Yet, regulation of workplace AI remains sparse. In New York City, that is set to change in July when the New York City Automated Employment Decision Tool Law (AEDT) will be enforced for the first time. The alert discusses key issues such as who must comply, what AI tools are covered by the law and the subsequent requirements, penalties for failure to comply and what employers need to do. Read the full alert here.
  • In our June issue of Hashed & Salted, we discuss the newest comprehensive privacy laws enacted in multiple states, including Iowa’s Consumer Data Protection Act, Indiana’s Consumer Data Protection Act, Tennessee’s Information Protection Act, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, and Montana’s Consumer Data Privacy Act. Due to the end of many state legislative sessions at the end of June, we may see additional laws passed in the next few weeks. This newsletter examines U.S. national cybersecurity strategy, financial services and AI: regulatory developments, a team member spotlight on Senior Counsel Ritu Narula, a recap and upcoming events. • Loeb is proud to join the Count Us In pledge by the Human Rights Campaign and GLAAD, exemplifying our commitment to stand in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ community. • In June 2023, Loeb & Loeb co-sponsored a two-part series focused on immigration and how climate change impacts refugees around the world. The two legal trainings, led by the firm’s pro bono partner, HIAS, align with the firm’s ongoing 2023 Diversity & Pro Bono Impact Seminar Series. Founded in 1881, HIAS is an international Jewish humanitarian organization providing critical support to refugees, asylum seekers and other forcibly displaced people around the world. The firm has co-sponsored HIAS seminars with Morgan Stanley for several years, often pairing the programs with immigration clinics. These two June programs were held in preparation for our upcoming Adjustment of Status pro bono clinic for refugees from Ukraine, Afghanistan, Myanmar and parts Central America, alongside lawyers from Morgan Stanley in September 2023.
