Community involvement is at the heart of Loeb’s core values, which is why we frequently join hands with likeminded clients to extend legal services to those in need and to those whose voices would be lost in the legal system without representation. We continually look for opportunities to collaborate with our clients on pro bono projects that represent our shared commitment to social justice and professional responsibility. We are also celebrating our lawyers who recently received the 2023 Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
Loeb and Spotify Partner on Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts Cases
A group of Loeb lawyers have teamed up with Spotify to support pro bono clients from Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts (VLA), a New York-based legal aid nonprofit dedicated to supporting low-income artists and art and cultural organizations.
Loeb and Spotify have committed to take on six separate VLA matters in which the firm’s lawyers and counsel from Spotify will work together to provide legal assistance to low-income artists and art organizations, including a chamber music group, an independent filmmaker, a documentary film organization, a visual artist, a playwright and a symphony orchestra. Seventeen Loeb lawyers and 16 in-house counsel from Spotify are advising on various pro bono matters, including copyright, drafting licensing agreements and contract negotiations.
Loeb Partners With Amazon and NBCUniversal to Host Pro Bono Clinic for Refugee and Migrant Children
Loeb, Amazon and NBCUniversal committed to conduct confidential screenings with 10 unrepresented migrant children, including three sibling pairs, in need of immigration legal assistance during the in-person pro bono intake clinic for clients from Kids in Need of Defense (KIND). Five Loeb lawyers, 11 firm staff members and 12 in-house counsel from both Amazon and NBCUniversal served as pro bono volunteers at the clinic. KIND is a nonprofit addressing the gap in legal services for unaccompanied minors. Founded in 2008, KIND has offices across the U.S. and in Mexico that offer care, including legal assistance and social services, to unaccompanied refugee and migrant children. Through strategic partnerships, it provides pro bono legal representation for these children across the country. Loeb is a long-time pro bono partner of KIND, with active matters in the firm’s Los Angeles, New York and Washington, DC, offices.
Loeb Lawyers Honored With Northern District of Illinois’ 2023 Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award
Three of our lawyers received the 2023 Excellence in Pro Bono and Public Interest Service Award from the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Chicago Chapter of the Federal Bar Association. Litigation partner Laura McNally, Litigation senior counsel Emily Stone and Bankruptcy & Restructuring associate Noah Weingarten received this prestigious recognition that honors lawyers who have demonstrated a dedication to pro bono and public interest representation specifically pertaining to criminal and civil matters. We are very pleased to have several of our attorneys recognized for two separate matters in a single year.
