In a role play, our sportsman client is a German national and a superstar rugby player in Australia and New Zealand. He and his English National wife are contemplating a professional move to North America. He will join one of the new teams in the recently established North American Rugby League. His celebrity wife intends to reestablish her singing, acting, and modeling career. A panel of advisers from Australia, United States, United Kingdom and the Cayman Islands will consider issues of change of residency; domicile for income, gift and inheritance (estate) tax purposes; matrimonial property regimes; special income tax planning for product endorsement and licensing opportunities for the peripatetic sportsman and entertainer: use of trusts and other vehicles, e.g. private placement insurance, for pre-immigration tax planning into various jurisdictions, and protection of family wealth against claims of creditors.
