Loeb & Loeb Names Four Attorneys to Partnership

Loeb and Loeb LLP has added four lawyers to the firm’s partnership. Patrick N. Downes, Allan Edmiston and Rachel J. Harris in the Los Angeles office and Nerissa Coyle McGinn in the Chicago office have been promoted to partner.

The following is brief biographical information about each of the firm’s new partners:

Patrick N. Downes concentrates his practice on complex commercial litigation, including consumer protection class actions and government regulatory actions and investigations brought by the Federal Trade Commission and state regulators, false and deceptive advertising actions and consumer claims. He also maintains a general business litigation and trial practice and has experience handling SEC enforcement and state board of accountancy matters involving allegations of securities and accounting fraud, professional liability matters and insurance coverage disputes. Mr. Downes received his J.D. from Boston University School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Michigan.

W. Allan Edmiston is a business litigator and trial lawyer with wide-ranging and deep experience litigating complex commercial, financial and corporate matters, and in defending law firms and lawyers against lawsuits alleging legal malpractice, breach of fiduciary duty and conflicts of interest. In addition, Mr. Edmiston has successfully litigated a number of intellectual property and entertainment disputes involving copyright, trademark, right of publicity, idea submission, anti-piracy and contract claims, among others, on behalf of prominent clients in the motion picture, television and music industries. Mr. Edmiston received his J.D. from Emory University School of Law and his B.A. from Trinity College, CT.

Rachel J. Harris counsels clients in connection with all aspects of domestic and international estate planning, including charitable giving and the creation and operation of tax-exempt organizations. She also represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries regarding trust and estate administration and related tax matters. She is admitted to practice in California, New York, and England and Wales. Ms. Harris received a LL.M in Taxation from New York University School of Law, her J.D. from Yale Law School, and her A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard University.

Nerissa Coyle McGinn’s practice focuses on matters involving the convergence of advertising and promotions, emerging media, technology, and privacy law, as well as intellectual property law, focusing on trademark clearance and counseling. She works with many of the best-known brands in the country, helping her clients to develop new brand assets and assisting them in the protection and exploitation of their intellectual property in advertising and marketing. Ms. McGinn advises clients in all forms of advertising and promotions initiatives, with a particular emphasis on Internet, mobile and interactive advertising and promotions. She received her J.D. from Harvard Law School, cum laude, and a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
