Loeb & Loeb Expands Advanced Media and Technology Department with Addition of Preeminent Outsourcing Attorney Akiba Stern

NEW YORK, NY - Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Akiba Stern has joined the firm as a partner in the Advanced Media and Technology Department and a member of the Technology and Outsourcing Practice Group. Stern has 30 years of experience in all manner of sophisticated commercial transactions, particularly where technology and intellectual property rights are implicated. Stern joins Loeb & Loeb from the New York office of Morgan Lewis where he was a Partner.

At Loeb & Loeb, Stern will continue to concentrate his practice on outsourcing, technology-enabled business transactions, E-commerce, technology transfers, licensing, intellectual property and joint ventures. Stern assists his clients with complex long-term sourcing and services arrangements, including outsourcing transactions and strategic alliances, as well as structuring, negotiating and implementing commercial strategies, alliance structures, pricing models, governance arrangements, change management protocols, contract administration and supplier compliance strategies.

While Stern’s outsourcing experience is across all business processes (including ITO, AD&M, F&A, HRO, KPO, Logistics, and Facilities Management) and many business verticals (including large pharmaceutical, entertainment, manufacturing, and packaged goods), he has done most of his work for financial services companies, including investment banks, hedge funds, commercial banks, insurance companies and specialty financiers. As a result, Stern has developed a significant background in asset management middle and back office outsourcings.

Chair of Loeb & Loeb’s Technology and Outsourcing Group, Ken Adler, said, “I am looking forward to working with Akiba. In our practice area, his reputation is unmatched. He is simply one of the most well regarded attorneys in the outsourcing and technology space and his solid background in working with institutional clients will be an asset to our team.”

“It’s a real win for us to get Akiba. His standing and years of experience are hard to find in this area of the law, and he will play a leading role in evolving our growing technology and outsourcing practices,” commented Michael Beck, Loeb & Loeb Co-Chairman.

“Akiba’s expertise in pharmaceutical licensing compliments the work we are already doing in all of our offices for our pharmaceutical clients,” added Co-Chairman, John Frankenheimer.

Stern has lectured widely and has published many articles regarding outsourcing, computer and Internet law and intellectual property. He received his M.B.A. from Boston University (1980); his J.D. from Boston University School of Law (1979); and his B.A. from Yeshiva University (1976).
