James Zhang provides strategic counseling to public and private companies navigating cross border mergers and acquisitions, private equity investments, and other corporate finance transactions in China and internationally, encompassing financial technology, entertainment, pharmaceutical industries and political lobbying. 

James advises China-based companies on their outbound mergers and acquisitions and counsels foreign companies on their China strategies, including negotiations with Chinese counterparties and interactions with regulatory authorities. He has experience advising Chinese private enterprises on their initial public offerings overseas. James has worked with clients in a broad spectrum of industries spanning entertainment, food service, health care, internet, manufacturing, media and technology. 

James also holds a variety of law-related and non-law-related positions, including the vice chair of the China Committee of the American Bar Association, the vice chair of the American Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Development Program, and the vice chair of the University of Chicago China Alumni Association.
