Overview

Erin Smith Dennis maintains a diverse commercial litigation practice with an emphasis on copyright and other intellectual property matters within the media, motion picture, music and advanced media industries.

She has represented singer-songwriters in copyright infringement claims, and media companies in breach of contract and commercial tort actions. She has also represented boards of directors, conglomerates, songwriters and music publishers in a wide variety of actions, including antitrust, breach of contract and shareholder derivative suits before federal and state courts and arbitral bodies. Erin also has extensive experience in regulatory and internal investigations, with a particular strength in fact development, witness preparation and presentation advocacy.

In addition, Erin has an active pro bono practice. She has been involved in the appeal of a defamation judgment for online political speech, a wrongful death case involving the inappropriate transfer of a firearm, and ongoing research support to an international organization campaigning for press freedom and protection of journalists. She also drafted a U.S. Supreme Court amicus brief regarding the interpretation of the Pregnancy Discrimination Act.
