Sara Butterfield is a registered patent agent with nearly a decade of experience handling patent prosecution and patent application drafting and filing for technologies related to chemistry, materials science, mechanical and electrical technologies and biotechnology.
Sara has a broad research background at the intersection of chemistry and biology. After obtaining a Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from UNC Chapel Hill, Sara worked as a postdoctoral research assistant at the Skaggs Institute for Chemical Biology at the Scripps Research Institute. She later moved abroad and worked as a Scientist at the Swiss Federal Institute in Lausanne, Switzerland where her research focused on the molecular mechanisms of protein aggregation events involved in Parkinson’s disease.
A frequent writer, Sara is co-author of 16 publications, including 12 first author scientific publications and review articles.
