LOS ANGELES – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Barry E. Mallen has joined the firm’s Los Angeles office as a partner in the IP and Entertainment Litigation Practice. Mallen most recently practiced in the Los Angeles office of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips LLP, where he was a partner and co-chair of the firm’s Entertainment Litigation group.
“Barry is a strategic addition to our firm, bringing a wide range of expertise that will further enhance our cross-practice capabilities,” said Mickey Mayerson, managing partner of Loeb & Loeb’s Los Angeles office. “He will be a great complement to our entertainment group as well as asset to our entertainment clients in the music and motion picture industries.”
Mallen’s practice focuses on entertainment, media and copyright litigation in the areas of film, television and music. He has defended numerous lawsuits for copyright infringement as well as negotiated and litigated audit disputes in the motion picture, television, recording, publishing and merchandising industries. In addition, he has litigated many cases involving breach of contract, trademark infringement and violation of the Lanham Act, handled disputes involving the rights of publicity of celebrities, and advised on so-called “seven year” issues in the recording industry, among other entertainment litigation matters.
Mallen has worked with a number of leading entertainment companies and music artists, including: Anschutz Entertainment Group, Summit Entertainment, NBC Universal, Concord Music Group, Neil Young, Brian Wilson, John Fogerty, KISS and The Rolling Stones, among many others.

Mallen is admitted to practice in California and before the U.S. District Court, Central, Northern, Southern and Eastern Districts of California, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He earned his B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles and his J.D. from the McGeorge School of Law at the University of the Pacific.
Currently, Mallen serves on the Board of Editors for the Law Journal Newsletter, Entertainment Law & Finance. He has been named one of the “Top Five Copyright Lawyers” by the Los Angeles Daily Journal, and has been listed as a Southern California Super Lawyer in Entertainment from 2004-2012.
