Loeb & Loeb Enhances Intellectual Property Practice with Addition of Patent Litigator Laura Wytsma

LOS ANGELES – Loeb & Loeb LLP announced today that Laura Wytsma, a patent litigator, is joining the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group. She joins the firm's Los Angeles as a partner. She was previously a partner with Sonnenschein Nath & Rosenthal LLP.

Wytsma’s practice focuses on intellectual property proceedings in federal court, with an emphasis on patent litigation. In addition to intellectual property matters, Wytsma’s broad litigation experience includes representations involving claims for antitrust violations and unfair competition; false advertising and Lanham Act violations; defamation and violation of privacy and publicity rights; breach of contract; and other complex commercial disputes. She has significant trial and appellate experience in federal proceedings. In addition to her litigation practice, Wytsma provides clients with pre-litigation counseling on intellectual property issues.

John Frankenheimer, the Co-Chair of Loeb & Loeb in Los Angeles, said, “Laura’s extensive experience in patent litigation is a major asset to our national IP practice and underscores our commitment to investing in building out our resources in the technology sector as well as the biotech, nanotech and pharmaceutical industries.”

Wytsma is the latest in a series of additions in 2007 that have expanded Loeb’s intellectual property practice, and its patent litigation practice in particular.

Wytsma provides pro bono legal services on a regular basis and has represented refugees seeking asylum from Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, Iran, Russia and Syria, as well as victims of domestic violence, in immigration proceedings, circuit courts and the United States Supreme Court. Her pro bono accomplishments have been recognized repeatedly by her peers and the community with the following awards.

  • Inaugural Angel Award from California Lawyer magazine (2006)
