BIOGRAPHY

Susan Williams concentrates her practice on media finance and entertainment transactions. She routinely advises clients on the legal and business aspects of sophisticated debt and equity financing as well as complex licensing and distribution arrangements for motion pictures, television and new media, both domestically and internationally.

Ms. Williams represents digital media and entertainment companies, financial institutions, major independent production companies, high net worth individuals, completion guarantors, and distributors in a variety of transactions involving the deployment of capital. Over the past several years she has handled more than $2 billion in entertainment financing transactions, including slate deals, overall company capital raises, single-picture financing deals, print and advertising financing, co-productions, and domestic and foreign tax incentivized transactions.  She also has extensive experience with new and emerging distribution platforms and represents companies involved in distribution and co-financing agreements with major studios and with international distribution companies.

Ms. Williams is widely regarded as an expert within her field and she is regularly recognized as a leading lawyer by numerous entertainment and legal trade publications.  She has been named by The Hollywood Reporter to the magazine’s annual “Power Lawyers” list of the 100 most influential entertainment attorneys in America, and she has been repeatedly recognized by Variety within the publication’s “Dealmakers Impact,” “Legal Impact” and “Women’s Impact” issues.  Ms. Williams has lectured and spoken at a variety of industry events as well as at USC Law School.  She is also a member of the UCLA Entertainment Symposium Advisory Committee.
