Overview

Nathalie Russell is a media, entertainment and intellectual property attorney who represents studios, media companies, networks, production companies, record labels, digital streamers, and artists. Her practice encompasses litigation and counseling in all areas of complex IP, media and entertainment, including copyright, trademark, false advertising, right of publicity, defamation and privacy. Nathalie’s litigation experience includes the successful defense of copyright and trademark infringement claims concerning issues of protectability, substantial similarity, fair use, chain of title, termination, perpetual licenses, and the DMCA.

Nathalie draws on her IP litigation expertise in advising studios, production companies, and content creators on risk mitigation strategies for ongoing productions and projects in development. She also provides transactional production legal support and advises on transactions in the entertainment and new media industries. Nathalie was previously Original Content Legal Counsel at Spotify, where she led IP and Production Legal support for Spotify’s internal podcast studios Gimlet and The Ringer. Nathalie also studied law in France and has experience advising on issues involving international copyright law, including moral rights.

Nathalie has contributed to Loeb & Loeb's IP/Entertainment Law Weekly Case Update for Content Creators, Owners, and Distributors, and the chapter on Entertainment Law in the treatise Business and Commercial Litigation in Federal Courts. Nathalie has also lectured extensively on the subject of copyright law before media industry professionals and law students. Nathalie also maintains a pro bono practice focused on helping young artists and content creators navigate intellectual property issues.
