Practice Capabilities
At a time of international tensions, uncertain retirement, medical benefits and coverage and congressional recommendations of estate taxes, we are conscious about our clients' need to put their houses in order and protect their families. At Loeb & Loeb LLP, we represent a broad client base of individuals including those who are just beginning their financial planning, those who are contemplating retirement and the disposition of their business interests, as well as businesses, fiduciaries and tax-exempt organizations in a wide range of trust and estate matters ranging from estate plans and the settlement of estate tax issues, to the resolution of multimillion-dollar disputes over the distribution of family wealth.
Our High Net Worth Families Group epitomizes the distinction between the traditional “will drafter” and the broad visioned “estate planner.” We focus on the client’s needs and desired disposition of wealth; analyze the projected effects of federal and state income, transfer, and estate taxes on the client’s proposed estate plan; and we formulate and memorialize the estate plan through a variety of appropriate planning vehicles and properly drafted documents. Our practice is international, enabling us to coordinate our client’s affairs and goals under the tax and administrative laws and applicable treaties of the United States and other countries. We also assist in preserving family harmony and structuring estate plans so as to reduce friction within the family group and to recognize the differing needs and goals of the family members.
In our Trust and Estate Litigation Group we combine extensive litigation experience with in-depth knowledge of trust and probate law and procedures. Our practice encompasses the full range of trust and probate controversies, including will and trust contests, interpretation disputes concerning complex estate planning documents, contested accountings, community property disputes and breach of fiduciary duty claims. We handle discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, trials and appeals.
Service Approach
We understand that estate planning, administration and, when necessary, litigation, are sensitive and often trying. Therefore, a close attorney-client relationship is crucial when it comes to such legally complex, highly personal and uniquely personal matters. Through communication and interaction, we take the time to understand our client’s philosophies and goals so we are better able to offer guidance as well as counsel, anticipate legal pitfalls and design preventive strategies. Because of our extensive experience and depth in our group, we are able to efficiently provide sophisticated and cost-effective solutions to your planning needs. We utilize experienced, highly-qualified legal assistants to increase our efficiency and cost effectiveness.
We take a multi-service approach to meeting these needs. For example, our corporate and real estate attorneys assist clients in connection with issues such as a business or property transfer, while our intellectual property and entertainment attorneys assist in addressing the unique issues involved in the protection of intellectual property rights.
Leadership in Law
“Few firms are better equipped to advise on trust and estate planning matters than Loeb & Loeb,” cited the annual edition of the Chambers USA Guide to America's Leading Lawyers for Business, which ranks lawyers and law practices through interviews with clients and competitors. Client references in the guide gave high praise to our Trusts and Estate Group again this year, calling us “‘a marvelous collection of lawyers who combine to form a strong, client-friendly and effective practice.’” The Legal 500 United States, a law firm referral guide, also ranked our practice among the top in the country in 2011.
Our group members include partners involved in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and bar associations. In addition, we are frequent speakers in the areas of estate planning, administration and litigation.
