Thomas N. Lawson
Partner and Co-Chair, Tax Practice Group

Tom Lawson has been an active tax law practitioner for over 28 years, and returned to the firm in 2005. His practice focuses on the representation of individuals and their businesses in connection with income and wealth transfer tax planning. He also does sophisticated tax planning for business transactions. During his prior tenure as a partner at Loeb & Loeb from 1987 to 1996, he served as chair of the firm’s tax department and was a member of the firm’s management and compensation committees.

Mr. Lawson is a frequent author and lecturer on tax-related subjects, including at the University of Southern California Federal Tax Institute on multiple occasions.

Prior Work Experience

Mr. Lawson has served as a member of the adjunct faculty of the UCLA Law School, where he taught courses in corporate income taxation. He has also taught tax courses at the Golden Gate University and in the advanced professional program at the University of Southern California Law School. During the academic years of 1978 to 1979, he was a full-time faculty member of the graduate tax program at the New York University School of Law.
 
Prior to attending law school, Mr. Lawson passed the CPA Examination in 1973.
